At MSPS we are fortunate to have an outstanding School Council and Parents Association groups.
Parents Association
The first meeting of PA for 2021 is Wednesday March 17th at 7.30pm. Please join us in the staffroom. All welcome.
The Morang South Primary School Parents Association is a friendly, social group of parents, carers and community members who meet regularly and help the school in a variety of ways.
Our PA aims to:
- contribute to the connectedness and well being of our school community members
- support the development of facilities and provision of resources and programs for our students
- raise funds for the purpose of providing enhancements for our students, and for use by the whole school community
- reinforce and value the importance of family involvement in our children’s education
- promote positive interactions between all members of the school community
Some of the activities our wonderful PA volunteers run include:
- Fundraising e.g. Sausage sizzles, chocolate and other drives, Entertainment books, raffles
- Special lunches
- Student disco
- Mother’s Day and Father’s Day Gifts
- Colour Fun Run
- Second Hand Uniform Shop
- Book club
School Council
The first meeting of School Council meeting for 2021 is the last of the 2020 council to be held on Wednesday Feburary 24th at 7.30pm. The first meeting of the new 2021 council will be held on Wednesday March 24th at 7.30pm.
School Council Elections are held each year. A Schedule 3 2021 Notice of Election and Call for Nominations for School Council, and nomination forms will be sent out and made available around the school. The number of vacancies will be published as part of the call and we hope that you will consider supporting the school by joining the School Council.
School Council:
- Is a legally formed body that is given powers to set the key directions of a school
- Is the major governing body of the school
- Plays an important role in school accountability and improvement processes
- Endorses the key school planning, evaluation and reporting documents
- All school council decision-making takes place within a framework of legislated powers, Ministerial Orders, directions, guidelines and DET policy
School Council objectives:
- Assist in the efficient governance of the school
- Ensure students’ best interests are primary
- Enhance the educational opportunities for students
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
School Council fundamental functions:
- Establish the broad direction and vision of the school within the school’s community
- Participate in the development and monitoring of the school strategic plan
- Develop, review and update school policies
- Develop, review and monitor the Student Engagement Policy and the School Dress Code
